Finnegans Fish & Chip Restaurant and Takeaway - Porthcawl

We called in after being told by a fellow allergy family that they visit Finnegans regularly. Our little boy has never had chips at the seaside before so we thought it was worth a visit and it didn’t disappoint. As soon as I mentioned allergies, the staff member serving produced the allergen folder in case we wanted to order anything else. Staff were really helpful in answering all our questions about fryer oil, chips being fried separately, whether chips were coated etc. if they weren’t sure of something, they went to check and nothing seemed like too much trouble. They also told me that the frying policy is the same across all Finnegans takeaways in the Bridgend/Porthcawl area. They do fry other foods (battered fish, sausage etc) but in a separate fryer so there is a degree of risk of cross contamination due to them being in the kitchen, however they dealt with our order carefully.

We only tried the chips but absolutely recommend them - they were perfect!

Venue Top Tips

You can eat in too if preferred. If you’re cautious about cross contamination with condiments, maybe take along your own sachets as salt/vinegar is in larger bottles/containers behind the counter.
