Brasserie On The Corner - Galway

The Olive Tree Kitchen is located in the centre of Wildlands, a brilliant adventure park on the outskirts of Galway City. It serves a selection of hot dishes, sandwiches, salads, sweet treats and bakery items, in addition to a dedicated children’s menu. It’s worth noting that you don’t need to pay admission to Wildlands in order to dine at the restaurant. We visited Wildlands during a weekend away in Galway with my son, who has nut and sesame allergies. We brought our own packed lunches for the day but when we saw their beautiful on-site restaurant, we decided to enquire whether they were able to accommodate guests with allergies. The waitress we spoke to was very friendly and helpful. She provided us with an allergen menu but explained that they used nuts extensively in their kitchen. We noted from the allergen menu that there were hazelnuts and walnuts in some of the main dishes and a variety of nuts on the dessert and bakery menu. The waitress was very accommodating and said that she would speak to the chef to see if there was anything my son could safely eat. She returned to say that it would be possible for my son to have pizza because no nuts were used in that area (they do use pine nuts which are technically a seed and not a nut). She explained that the dough was freshly made in house and that the pizzas were cooked on their own in a traditional Italian firebrick pizza oven. We were so impressed at how she really went out of her way to make sure there was at least something my son could eat. Throughout our meal, the restaurant staff were so friendly, helpful and attentive. Our food was really delicious and a far cry from the usual heavily processed ‘’junk’’ that’s typical of most kids’ activity venues. We will definitely return!!
